Alternate Tunings

Alternate tunings can be fun..... to some a headache, but it will add a whole new flavor to your playing.
Like most guitar players I generally play in standard tuning EADGBE but I've experimented with DADGAD and DADF#AD which is also Open D tuning. Open D sounds very melodic and will allow you to pull some kool sounding chords that would be either too hard or impossible to replicate with standard tuning. I know there are some people that play exclusively in alternate tunings, also some music genres that use alternate tunings. It just takes some time to get used to the new note locations or new finger positions for the new chords.
So when your banging your head trying to learn the new song you've heard, they may be using alternate tuning.

Check out this link it has all of the alternate tunings you will ever need or ever want to learn.
Have fun!! : http://www.howtotuneaguitar.org/tuning/alternate-guitar-tuning-chart/
